Published as a Catbird Media Project, Rusty goes Exploring is the first in the 'Adventures at Cloverdale Farm' series for beginner readers.

Rusty is a real Dexter bull on a farm in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The photographs of Cloverdale Farm, taken by Elly Bingham, set the scene for the wonderful artwork of Chantelle Roberts, who painted the farmyard animals and their friends. Graphic artist, Maree James, put her skilled touches to each page to present Rusty goes Exploring as an innovative picture book which will have young readers enthralled.

The text is easy to read for juniors and the use of repetition delights when they can recognise words as the story progresses. The book includes a simple counting theme, and at the end of the story there is a moral for Rusty that young children can identify with.

The Rusty stories were written by Patricia Young, a mother and grandmother with over forty years experience in raising children and knowing what appeals to them. She wrote the first story for her grandchildren who visit the farm on school holidays, but eventually that idea expanded into a series of Rusty stories.

The women in this new Catbird Media Project - Patricia Young, Chantelle Roberts, Maree James and Elly Bingham have brought Rusty and his farmyard friends to life in the beautifully presented pages of Rusty goes Exploring. Focussing on what the discerning child wants in a picture book, the team has captured perfectly Rusty's loveable nature which will instantly appeal to young readers.
